From 17 October 2026, commercial calls in Spain may only be made using 400 numbering, and IGONTEK already provides it.
The new rule covers sales, acquisition and prospecting calls made by a company from its phone system or communications platform. Preparing the numbering now gives teams time to review routes, campaigns and caller presentation before the deadline.
What changes
The Resolution of 14 April 2026, published on 16 April in the BOE as BOE-A-2026-8409, assigns code 400 to commercial calls. It provides six months for adaptation. From 17 October 2026, another range may not be used for these calls and operators must block commercial communications that do not use 400 numbering. 400 numbers are outgoing only.
The measure sits within Law 10/2025 of 26 December on customer service, which strengthens the identification and responsible handling of commercial communications.
Who is affected
The rule applies to any company making sales, acquisition or prospecting calls: insurers, real estate firms, banks, retailers, e-commerce businesses, education providers, energy companies, telecoms providers and contact centres. A transitional exception covers electricity, gas and telephone service providers with a national market share below 5% that are not large companies.
What to do
- Request the 400 numbering needed for your campaigns.
- Configure the Caller ID on commercial routes in your phone system.
- Separate sales routes from customer service, support and after-sales routes.
- Inform your contact centre and document which number each campaign uses.
IGONTEK already provides 400 numbering
As a CNMC-registered operator, IGONTEK assigns your 400 numbering and configures it in your phone system. We recommend starting early so there is time to test Caller ID, forwarding and the correct presentation on every commercial route.
